Total gridlock!
Out and about in the van today. Driving out to Versailles in the morning we ended up getting stuck in the afternoon Parisian traffic.
As it turns out, the police were pulling over all the people on scooters and checking their documents. These were the smart ones, hiding behind vans so that they wouldn't get pulled over. The less careful ones were caught trying to get around the traffic by riding on the pavement (which is pretty common here) and promptly stopped when they reached the police on the corner.
It all reminded me of the old Lilt tv advert. "Oh mon, It's total gridlock!" but I could only find 2 seconds of the advert on YouTube. What's up with that?
